Since its opening in 1863 the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées was proposed as the most prestigious hotel in Stresa and Lake Maggiore, offering a pleasant ambience and luxury services worthy of wealthy clients at that time were beginning to discover the northern lakes Italy.
Since then many things have changed but the atmosphere remained the same.
The hotel is surrounded by a park with old trees, adorned with statues and fountains made of marble, the large fountain at the entrance and the elaborate nymphaeum that dominates are one of the most photographed in Stresa.
The hotel is located within walking distance from downtown and the roomsoffer a viaw of Borromeo islands and the surrounding Alps.
Over the years the building has been continually renovated and beautified while keeping intact the original style "Belle Epoque": the environments and the public locals are decorated with an abundance of flowers and green plants, Murano chandeliers, colorful mosaics and marbles, and the evening, the piano bar in the lobby makes the atmosphere more comfortable and stylish.
On the ground floor of the hotel, the restaurant "Il Borromeo" offers an opulent buffet breakfast and a very tasty and authentic cuisine with a variety of traditional dishes of the area; with the help of nutritionists at the Wellness Centre, the chef has also created a selection of tempting dishes calorie-controlled.
